Anti-aging Skincare Secrets

Anti-aging Skincare Secrets – In my never-ending quest for anti-aging, I am becoming more and more dependent on my esthetician. I always turn to her for the best skin care products for over 50 and products that do double duty. I recently asked my esthetician about some skin care products dermatologists recommend for aging skin and tips and tricks for maintaining youthful skin, so I thought I’d share them here.

I love reading magazines at the beach and I always flip the page when I come across products I want to try. So what will I do? I go online and order. Want to tighten your jaw and neck? Certainly. Soft, baby butt skin? Certainly. A water supplement that rejuvenates your skin? Be sure! And I am a sucker for what is considered the best anti-aging serum. As I’m getting older, I’m now in the market to find the best moisturizer for aging skin over 60 – I’ll be there very soon! Or we’re trying to find the best anti-wrinkle cream that actually works.

Anti-aging Skincare Secrets

But since I still don’t look 30, I’m starting to wonder which anti-aging treatments work and which ones don’t. Now that we’re into this midlife thing, I want to find the best anti-aging serum and dermatologist-recommended moisturizers for 50s.

Anti Aging Skincare Tips You Need To Know

I recently won a Groupon for a dermaplane facial and found this esthetician to be incredibly honest in her review of some products and anti-aging tips and tricks. Not everyone will agree with these tips, especially if you are a cosmetics manufacturer or seller. But for now, I’ll take her advice and see if I’m missing anything in these anti-aging secrets from an esthetician.

1. Eye creams (most) are just a marketing gimmick. Many eye creams claim that the skin around your eyes is thinner than the rest of your face. TRUE. But if you have normal skin and certain eye problems, your regular moisturizer will do the trick. No matter what, it’s important to apply it gently around your eyes. I will use the eye creams I have now and try this to see if I notice a difference. I’m always looking for the best anti-aging night cream for over 50s as part of my night routine.

2. Your body doesn’t need most supplements. I’ve said this before. Many studies show that you need to get essential vitamins and minerals from daily life and the foods you eat. So all these anti-aging supplements for skin, hair and nails are actually of no use. I firmly believe that the sun provides Vitamin D (in small amounts) and I see a difference when I use Vitamin C cream on my face. But for now, I think I’ll give up the dozen bottles of unnecessary vitamins and metabolism-boosting teas I’ve bought.

3. Say no to neck creams. I recently took a look at myself in the mirror and noticed that my neck looked particularly miserable. They say you can often tell a woman’s age by her neck, and I remember my grandmother once telling me that’s why she always wore a turtleneck. I admit, I’ve read and been told that I should always take care of your neck like you do your face, but mea culpa, I rarely cleanse my neck or apply any moisturizer. So I decided to buy an expensive neck cream. However, my esthetician says my regular daily and evening moisturizers will also work. In the meantime, I’ll keep using my new expensive cream and if my neck outshines the skin on my face in terms of youthfulness, I’ll let you know!

4. Collagen cannot be regenerated topically. I specifically asked this question because how easy would it be to slather a cream on your face every day and skip painful and often expensive collagen-building treatments like microneedling and lasers? Sigh. However, he told me that these topical creams fail to create collagen deep below the skin layer. I drink collagen powder every day mainly for my joints but I believe it also has an effect on my skin and hair.

5. Water, water, water. It’s such a simple thing, but it’s the cheapest and most accessible secret to anti-aging. Your skin is the largest organ in your body and is mostly water. So drink to renew and maintain that youthful glow!

I recommend writing down a list of questions to ask your esthetician before your next procedure. I write down the questions that come to my mind in my phone and review this list when I go to his office. The above secrets will not work for everyone and I’m sure there will be a lot of debate, but as long as I make an effort to take the best care of my skin every day, I can’t go wrong.

FYI, I’m currently trying out what I hope is the best anti-aging regimen for 50-something skin. I do a blend of ZO Skin Health (the real Dr. Obagi line) and Eminence Organics – I love the scent of these products. If you want to know about specific products I fell in love with from these lines, leave a message below!

The Active Man’s Guide To Anti Aging Skincare: Tips For Maintaining Yo

Anti-aging skin care involves a combination of good habits, products and lifestyle choices. Here are some tips to help you maintain healthy, younger-looking skin:

1. Protect Your Skin from the Sun: UV rays from the sun can accelerate aging and cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems. Always use sunscreen of at least SPF 30, even on cloudy days, and reapply every two hours outdoors.

2. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Dehydrated skin can look dull and be more prone to wrinkles.

3. Use Gentle Cleansers: Avoid harsh cleansers that strip your skin of natural oils. Choose gentle, moisturizing cleansers that will not disrupt your skin’s moisture barrier.

4. Moisturize Regularly: Moisturizers help lock in moisture and keep your skin hydrated, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Look for moisturizers that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides.

5. Include Retinoids: Retinoids, like retinol, are powerful anti-aging ingredients that can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, improve skin texture, and stimulate collagen production. Start with a lower concentration and gradually increase as your skin tolerates it.

6. Use Antioxidants: Antioxidants like vitamins C and E help protect your skin from free radical damage that can cause premature aging. Look for serums or moisturizers that contain these ingredients.

7. Get Adequate Sleep: Aim to get 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. During sleep, your body repairs and renews cells, including skin cells, which can help maintain youthful skin.

9. Limit Alcohol and Avoid Smoking: Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking can accelerate aging by causing dehydration, dullness, and collagen degradation. To keep skin looking young, limit alcohol intake and avoid smoking.

10. Manage Stress: Chronic stress can contribute to premature aging by triggering inflammation and hormone imbalances. Practice stress-reducing activities such as yoga, meditation or deep breathing exercises to improve overall well-being and healthy skin.

Remember that consistency is key when it comes to anti-aging skin care. Creating and sticking to a daily routine can help you achieve and maintain youthful, glowing skin over time.
