Makeup Essentials For Travel – Keeping up your everyday makeup while traveling can be difficult, but I promise it’s not impossible! As women, we usually focus on packing only the essentials to free up as much space as possible in our suitcases, but that doesn’t mean we have to make sacrifices. One way we can do this is by eliminating extra makeup products that we probably won’t use if we pack them. As a makeup junkie, I do this very often, but it ends now. If you’re in the same boat as me, I’m sharing all the best travel makeup essentials I’ve been traveling with lately to avoid this!
There are so many great makeup products out there that it can be hard to decide which products to take with you when you travel. Personally, I always bring foundations with me for every step of my makeup and if I can, I’ll opt for a palette to free up space and still have options.
Makeup Essentials For Travel
ILIA Handy Eyeshadow Palette – I’ve been known to buy individual eyeshadow pans in the past, but they’re not space-friendly when traveling. This eyeshadow palette helps free up space in my makeup bag, but still gives me plenty of eyeshadow colors. This ILIA palette is great for daytime activities!

Natasha Denona Mini Bronze Eyeshadow Palette – By now you know I love an eyeshadow palette and this one is really the best for evening and dinner when traveling! I love bronze tones, especially when it’s a summer glow.
Hourglass Brightening Airbrush Concealer – A good illuminating concealer is a must have when traveling and this one is lovely! If I’m going a makeup-free day, I love to add a bit of this concealer under my eyes and on the sides of my nose to give my face a little glow. If I’m doing a full face of makeup, I love that it doesn’t take the cake when I’m adding other layers.
Laura Mercier Illuminating Primer – When I travel, I’m usually on the go the entire time and don’t have many opportunities to sit back, relax, and freshen up. This is why I always use a primer before applying makeup. It keeps my makeup in place especially on hot days. This one from Laura Mercier is also illuminating, giving your skin a natural glow!
Charlotte Tilbury Glow Cream Bronzer – Cream bronzers aren’t for everyone, but they’re personally one of my favorite types of bronzers. This one from Charlotte Tilbury will always be a favourite; the consistency makes it easy to contour and the product is extremely buildable so you don’t have to worry about it getting cakey.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Blush Wand – I’ve tried many powder, cream and liquid blushes over the years, but this is my absolute favorite! It applies almost like a lip gloss but blends really well. It’s also very pigmented but adds the perfect pop of color to your cheeks thanks to the matte finish. This is one of my favorite travel products because of how convenient it is.
KAYALI Discovery Set – KAYALI is one of my favorite perfume brands. I love how fragrant each scent is and they are really affordable! I usually reach for the same KAYALI fragrances every day, so I love taking advantage of this discovery set when I travel. Each scent is travel size and gives me a chance to try a new scent.
Summer Fridays Sheer Tan – If you’re traveling somewhere hot or don’t want to bring a lot of makeup with you when you travel, this sheer tan is a must-have. It’s lightweight, reduces redness and gives your face a natural-looking finish.
NARS Cheek Palette – I love a good palette, especially when I’m traveling and this one is no exception. It includes all the products you need to add color to your cheeks, highlight cheekbones, and contour. Plus, NARS is known for their amazing cheek colors. Their formula is pigmented, smooth and long-lasting.

GUERLAIN Sunkissed Bronzer – While a cream bronzer is usually my go-to, I love a traditional powder bronzer for on-the-go. It has the perfect amount of shimmer and adds the perfect amount of color to your face.
Too Faced Volumizing Mascara – I’ve tried a lot of mascaras over the years, but this one from Too Faced is my absolute favorite. Every time I try to change it, I always end up asking why I walked away in the first place. I love how it adds depth and volume to my lashes and doesn’t leave flakes or smudges on my lids.
Jouer Cosmetics Hydrate + Setting Powder – After I finish my makeup routine, I will apply this setting powder to keep my makeup in place all day. It’s also very hydrating, so your makeup stays fresh all day long. This is important when traveling somewhere warm!
I always make sure I have an eyelash curler with me when I travel. It helps to open up and brighten my eyes, especially on days when I decide to keep my face makeup free!
Travel Essentials — Katie Enos Beauty
There’s nothing worse than arriving at your destination and opening the containers to find one (or more!) of your makeup palettes broken. It’s annoying and inconvenient! To avoid this, it’s important to take a few extra steps to keep your makeup safe while traveling. I can’t recommend a good enough cosmetic bag for beginners. It’s an investment, but it’s really roomy, keeps your makeup safe, and is an item you’ll have for years!
The good news about flying is that all powder and solid makeup are allowed in carry-on or checked bags with no size or quantity restrictions. However, when packaged in carry-on bags, liquid makeup must be in containers of 3.4 ounces or less.
When packing for your next trip, keep in mind where you’re going, the climate, and what activities you’ll be doing at your destination. By keeping this in mind, you’ll be able to pack the makeup you need and keep it safe. If the products take up a lot of space in your makeup bag or carry-on bag, or are more than 3.4 fluid ounces, I always recommend taking your favorite products in travel sizes. Sephora has a great selection of TSA approved product sizes that make it easy! Having tried almost every makeup brand under the sun, I can confidently say that these are the tried and true items I pack for my vacations. I like to keep a minimal routine when I’m away, I find that I’m more comfortable when I’m away than what I wear every day.
Below you’ll find a list of my favorite everyday makeup products for each category I’ve rounded up: foundation/concealer, bronzer, brows/mascara, eyeliner, highlighter, lipstick, and even lip balm.

Wow, maybe I’m a little high maintenance or what? But this is exactly what I packed for my month in Italy this summer, and I thought I did a pretty good job! And since then I’ve found myself packing more or less these products for our weekend getaways. These products will also be what I’m packing for Palm Springs next week, all about that glow all year long!
The most important factor in how much makeup to pack is the country you’ll be visiting, your style of travel, and how long your trip will be. So, pack accordingly for your next destination. At the end of the day, take what you feel comfortable with, don’t worry about bringing too much because it’s all lightweight, and most importantly, focus on enjoying your experience more than it looks.

And that’s it! I brought minis when I liked the Mascara and Stila Glitter And Glow. Everything you need for a trip is mini and it lasts a while anyway. I only packed one eyeshadow palette because why would anyone bring more than one???
You can also check out my vacation packing list that I use for EVERYTHING. ONE. TRAVEL. I have been for the last 6 years! With all the traveling I’ve done over the past year, I’ve become somewhat of a self-proclaimed expert in the art of packing minimal makeup essentials. I quickly realized that when you’re just on a weekend getaway, you’re not going to realistically use an entire makeup kit, so I’ve been picking out all kinds of makeup products that I personally can’t live without and are my personal essentials. So if you’re the kind of person who’s always looking to fill up on another blush at that exquisitely clean airport
