Winter perfumes, unlike their summer counterparts, are characterized by deep and rich nuances that exude warmth and comfort. With notes like musk, amber and vanilla, they evoke a feeling of comfort, perfectly complementing the cold weather outside. These fragrances serve as the ideal base for creating a layered scent that captures the essence of the winter season.
Winter Scents
Begin your perfume layering journey by selecting a captivating winter perfume as your base. Opt for a fragrance that embodies the spirit of winter, such as one with hints of sandalwood or spicy undertones, that provides a solid foundation for future layers.

Experiment with various fragrance combinations to create a unique and inviting aroma. Pair your winter perfume with lighter notes like citrus or florals to add a refreshing touch to the heat. Consider infusing your base with hints of bergamot or jasmine to strike a delicate balance between winter comfort and a touch of spring freshness.
Incorporate woody and spicy notes into your perfume layer to add depth and complexity. Add a hint of cedar wood or cinnamon to amplify the richness of your winter fragrance. These elements not only enhance the overall aroma but also provide a lasting impression that lingers gently on the skin, captivating everyone around.
As you explore the intriguing realm of perfume layers, keep in mind that the main goal is to create a fragrance that truly reflects your character and preferences. Try different mixes and proportions to find a combination that echoes your uniqueness, making a memorable impact in any environment you like.

Winter Fragrance Guide
While you can wear any fragrance at any time of the year, there are some that just evoke the beginning of a season. The first rain of summer, or the crisp air that comes with the beginning of autumn. And then there are the warm, spicy, sweet and leathery notes that bring all the cozy sensations when the cold comes.
Every winter brings a flurry of new scents to the shelves in preparation for the holiday season. We’ve taken a look at this season’s latest scents, and some recent favorites from the past few years, that are must-haves for your comfort. Read on for our favorite winter perfumes.
When word got out that Victoria Beckham was adding fragrances to her beauty brand, the industry (and perhaps the world) went crazy. Loved by almost every product (we’re partial to her Satin Kajal Liner), VB Beauty’s Eau de Parfum Suite 302 is an ode to her birthday trip to Paris. Black cherry, tobacco leaves and leather give a warm, woody aroma that is sure to envelop you in cozy comfort this winter.
Burberry Goddess is aromatic with several variations of vanilla topped with lavender. The brand touts its latest fragrance as one of “self-discovery” for wearers, with a campaign fronted by Emma Mackey and a herd of lionesses. Talk about powerful. It’s also Burberry’s first refillable perfume, which is huge.
Frosted Pine Cones Fragrance Oil
While many people tend to gravitate towards warm, woody and musky scents when the cold hits, there are those who prefer something light and refreshing. The latest release from Jo Malone London resembles fresh fruits and flowers warmed by the sun. The crisp, genderless scent is buildable and can be combined as the day progresses with other scents from the brand.
This bright and sweet scent is reminiscent of the sweet land of The Nutcracker thanks to its gourmand notes. Candied lemons, orange blossom and vanilla come together for a fresh and delicate scent that is not too sweet. It’s an ideal scent to take you into winter and spring.
Tom Ford’s latest perfume is a sensual, opulent and deeply warm fragrance thanks to notes of dark coffee and rose. Coriander, patchouli, and cardamom add spice to this floral scent, which users say is “an intentional fragrance that plays well in cold weather.” If you’re not a fan of rose, this pick isn’t for you.”
While Byredo’s recent releases over the past few years have explored different parts of the fragrance family, from fruity to floral, Mumbai Noise is equal parts warm, woody and gourmand in the best way.
Best Winter Vacation Perfumes
At the top, you’ll find davana, a herb with an earthy, woody aroma. The heart of the scent is where things get interesting. There is tonka bean, a note that often resembles vanilla, only slightly softer. This, combined with a coffee note, creates a warm, dark, sweet heart with plenty of depth. The base anchors the scent with labdanum, a resin often reminiscent of leather and amber, sandalwood and agarwood.
Bombay’s noise is incredibly rich, warm and has a lot of weight to it. It’s perfect for the colder months, exactly what we’re looking for to feel warm inside and out.
Speaking of intense, YSL came out with an extreme version of Black Opium. Now, I know what you’re thinking…
Black Opium intensified the coffee note and added cocoa to add more depth. There is soft jasmine and orange blossom in the heart, and it is closed in the base with vanilla patchouli.
How To Choose The Perfect Winter Perfume
Coffee is a criminally underused note in fragrance, in my opinion. I love (almost) all coffee-based scents, and this might be my favorite. It doesn’t literally smell like coffee, but it doesn’t make it secret either. It’s warm, sweet and has a lot of depth. However, it doesn’t carry too much weight as the name might lead you to believe.
The Hedonist is a dark, woody fragrance with a hint of effervescent sweetness that lingers throughout its wear, thanks to the ginger and bergamot in the top. The heart of the scent is very woody, and the base contains vetiver, moss and tonka bean.
The hedonist is a crowd pleaser, no doubt. It has tons of texture and personality, allowing it to provide satisfying and long-lasting wear.
This fragrance is a pleasant, fresh, aquatic fragrance. It’s bright and sweet, but in a way that feels rosy, not sugary. It opens with fresh, earthy notes of bergamot, juniper and pink pepper, with rosemary, sage and cumin in the middle, and a woody base of sandalwood, cedar and vetiver.
The Best Fragrances For A Warm And Cozy Winter
It’s one of those scents that feels like spring, but is so good that you want to wear it all year round.
If you don’t know Kayali, you need to familiarize yourself. Since they launched in 2018, they have released some really nice fragrances. Invite Only Amber 23 is one of the latest in his string of recent hits.
There’s a lot going on in the scent, but it’s balanced in a way that works. It opens with black cherry, hazelnut, tobacco leaf and honey. The heart of the scent reveals citrus leaves and two types of rose for a rich, boozy depth (rose can get boozy, believe me). In the base, you will find amber, vanilla, sandalwood, musk, patchouli, benzoin (a resin reminiscent of incense) and cypriol (an oil with a strong woody smell).
Although it sounds sweet, it has a surprising amount of dark and leathery depth. It’s worth checking out.
