Not only does seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady have Kevin Youkilis, a two-time World Series champ with the Red Sox, as a brother-in-law, but there’s another elite athlete putting respect on the Brady name.
The Buccaneers quarterback gave his niece, Maya Brady, a shoutout on Twitter Sunday for her accomplishments on the softball diamond. Brady shared a video of the UCLA redshirt freshman smashing her first home run of the season for the No. 2 ranked Bruins (10-1). It was a three-run shot right over the right field fence to lift UCLA to a five-inning, 14-0 victory over San Jose State.
“Maya Brady, the most dominant athlete in the Brady family…by far!” the proud 43-year-old uncle wrote.
Maya, who was named the 2020 Softball America Freshman Player of the Year, is the oldest child of Maureen Brady, the oldest of Brady’s three sisters. Maureen, an All-American pitcher at Fresno State, led the nation with 26 wins as a junior.
Last season, which was cancelled in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 5-foot-10 utility player led UCLA with seven home runs – which ranked fifth in the conference. She was fourth among Pac-12 players with 28 RBIs and a .356 batting average over 26 games.
