The Phish fan who fell to his death from the upper level of a concert in San Francisco had traveled from upstate New York, officials said.

Ryan Prosser, 47, of Athens, New York, was identified as the concertgoer who was killed Sunday night during the show at the Chase Center, news station KTVU reported.

Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the deadly plunge, but evidence suggests that he may have jumped from the ledge.

“The investigation has evidence to believe the victim leapt from an elevated area of the arena causing him to fall a significant distance, which caused his injuries,” police said in a statement, Mercury News reported.

Another concertgoer, Robert Moen, said he witnessed Prosser’s final moments.

“We were a couple rows behind the first guy that jumped intentionally and we saw him right when he put his feet on the barrier, stood up and just leapt,” Moen told KTVU. “He went out of view and I realized later, that was a huge drop, maybe four stories or so.”

Prosser’s longtime friend, Frank Bauer, however, said that jumping intentionally was not something that the railroad engineer would have done.

“He was like a brother to me,” Bauer told the news station.

Other loved ones took to social media to pay tribute to Prosser.

“I am truly devastated & hurt beyond words. Ry guy as I called him, I Love you & I will Miss you more than you will ever know!” his cousin, David Hogan, wrote on Facebook. “Our entire family & extended family are grieving your sudden & unfortunate loss!”
