The Maine Black Bears face The Villanova Wildcats on Saturday in a week 8 FCS college football at Harold Alfond Sports Stadium at 12 p.m. ET. Maine, coming off its bye week with a 2-1 record, plays Villanova (1-1) at noon. The Wildcats are ranked 16th in all three national Football Championships Subdivision polls (Coaches poll, FCS Stats poll and Athlon FCS Power Poll) while Maine is unranked in the first two polls and ranked 22nd in the Athlon poll.
Through the first two games this season, Villanova has both averaged and allowed 26.5 ppg. The Wildcats opened up on March 6 with a 16-13 win over Stony Brook and lost to Rhode Island 40-37 in overtime when they last played on March 13. The Wildcats are averaging 210.5 passing yards per game, 205 rushing yards on offense.

The Maine Black Bears will host the Villanova Wildcats on Saturday in a CAA match-up. These teams last met on September September 28, 2019, and Villanova won 33-17 at home.
The Black Bears always talk about balance and they’re slowly achieving it this year. Maine is passing for 186.7 yards per game and rushing for 115 yards. Look for Maine to try to establish a run game early, but also take shots deep against Villanova’s secondary.
